3 Ways That You Shouldn't Try To Save Money When Renting A Scissor Lift

Posted on

A scissor lift rental can be a whole lot more affordable than buying one, and if you only need it for a short-term job, renting makes a whole lot of sense. Since you can save a ton of money by renting one rather than buying one, however, there are certain things that you probably shouldn't do when trying to save money. These are three things that you may not want to do when renting a scissor lift, even if your budget is a major concern:

1. Choosing a Cheaper Scissor Lift

First of all, when you inquire about pricing for renting a scissor lift, you might be told about a few different makes and models and different price ranges. Of course, in the interest of saving money, you might think about renting the cheapest scissor lift that is available. However, you should also think about how that scissor lift will work for your needs. Not only do you need to make sure that the scissor lift will actually be capable of taking you to the heights that you need to go for your project, but you should also think about weight limits. In some cases, smaller and cheaper scissor lifts have smaller weight limits. If you are going to be using a lot of equipment on your scissor lift while you're using it, this is something to think about. Of course, there is no reason to pay for a bigger and stronger scissor lift than what you actually need to get the job done, but you should also be careful about going too cheap and using a piece of equipment that won't be practical or safe for your needs.

2. Opting Out of Delivery

Many companies that offer scissor lifts as rentals are more than happy to deliver the equipment to your work site if you need them to, although they might charge an additional fee. If you're looking to save on this fee, you might be thinking about looking for ways to deliver the equipment yourself. Unless you have the right equipment for transporting the scissor lift, however, it's often best to allow the equipment rental company to handle the delivery for you. This can save you a lot of time, money, and stress.

3. Opting Out of Insurance

Many rental companies offer insurance on their equipment. Before opting out, make sure that the equipment will be covered by your insurance policy. If this is not the case, it can often be worth it to buy coverage through the rental company so that you won't have to worry about anything if something happens to the scissor lift while it's in your possession.
